Synopsis: Switched On To Learning is a resource for teachers and students, written by Grades 4, 5 and 6 students at Pender’s Grove and Preston South Primary Schools in Melbourne, to describe their investigation of the factors influencing student engagement. The 52-page book presented in cartoon format covers what engagement means, how it can be ‘measured’ and why it is important. The Student Action Teams consider the factors that influence engagement in schooling and the achievable things that can be done by schools to improve student engagement. They describe their journey of enquiry and how it was an engaging one.
