2010 GRANTS

GUIDELINES FOR SCIENCE AND MEDICINE FUNDING

1. 2010 APPLICATIONS RESTRICTED TO VICTORIAN BASED ORGANISATIONS.

Applicants should note that applications for science and medicine funding will be considered in light of the General Guidelines for Grants. From time to time the Foundation receives enquiries and requests to clarify aspects of the approval process.  Please go to the following link for a more detailed explanation- "CASS Selection Process"

In 2010, the Foundation will consider only applications for research and development projects in Science and Medicine from Victorian organisations.  Applications for grants up to $60,000.00 may be considered:

   >>  for specific projects or undertakings;
   >> for research and development.

Applications should be for projects which will be undertaken substantially in Australia by Victorian organizations.  Although projects extending over more than 1 year will be considered, projects which contemplate completion within 12 months from commencement may be given preference.

The Foundation welcomes what we would call “proof of concept” project applications.  What we understand by this term is that the application deals with a concept, hypothesis, postulate or the like which, by its proposed project, the applicant hopes to prove correct or to validate, to the extent that further research and development on the concept/hypothesis/postulate will be worthwhile.

We make this explanation to indicate that, unlike some other funding bodies, we are prepared to consider (and indeed welcome) early development projects which are still short of the validation that might be required for, say, an NH&MRC application.

For further clarification, we can also indicate that the Foundation will be unlikely to consider applications:

> to fund surveys or questionnaires or projects based on surveys or questionnaires;

> to fund government entities - however, government funded universities, research institutes and hospitals where funding for the specific research project is not available from recurrent or capital resources are eligible to apply.

Applicants should use the current application form available for downloading from this site, and take particular note of the guidelines, eligibility criteria, and critical dates for each specific grant round.

The Guidelines, key dates and eligibility are continually subject to review.
